যখনই কোনো ট্রান্সপারেন্ট আয়না এপাশ থেকে ওপাশের অবস্থা দেখার যোগ্যতা ট্রান্সপারেন্সি হারায় তখনই ওপাশে ময়লা আবর্জনা জমতে শুরু করে।ঠিক তেমনি একটি দেশের গণমাধ্যম যখন নিরপেক্ষতা, জবাবদিহিতা ও স্বচ্ছতা থেকে সরে দাড়ায় তখনই সেদেশ অপরাধীর অভয়ারণ্যে পরিণত হতে থাকে।দেশ দর্পণ গণমাধ্যম কতটা নিরপেক্ষ আর স্বচ্ছ; তা এবার জাতি জেনে গেছে।গণমাধ্যম গণনিয়ন্ত্রণের ভূমিকা পালন করে আসছিল তা জাতির কাছে এখন স্পষ্ট।

গণমাধ্যমকে যারা গণনিয়ন্ত্রণ মাধ্যম হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা শুরু করছিলেন; তাদের সে স্বপ্ন আর পূরণ হবার নয়; কেননা নেট দুনিয়ায় দরিদ্রের হাতেও পৌছে গেছে এন্ড্রয়েড। অশিক্ষিতরাও স্ক্রলিং করে দেশবিদেশের সব খবর জেনে যাচ্ছে নিমিষে।এমন এক আমূল পরিবর্তনের যুগেও গণমাধ্যমের সাইন বোর্ডের আড়ালে অপকর্ম ঢাকার ব্যর্থ চেষ্টা করে বিতর্কিত হচ্ছেন মূল ধারার বলে মুখ গম্ভীর করে গৌবর অহঙ্কারে চলা সাংবাদিকগণ।কেউ কেউ আবার তাদের পক্ষে সাফাই গাইছেন।দেশপ্রেমিক নাকি অর্থপ্রেমিক তা যখন প্রমাণিত হতে চলছে।তখনও সেসকল সাংবাদিকরা শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত কার্যালয়ে ও শীর্ষ শিল্পপতিদের পার্টি, ক্লাব আর হাউজে যাতায়াতে লাক্সারিয়াস গাড়ি, সুনয়না নারী নিয়ে সুখ স্বাচ্ছন্দে ডুপ্লেক্স বাড়িতে থেকে শুধুমাত্র প্রভাবশালীদের বার্তাবাহকের ভূমিকা পালন করছেন।তারা গণমাধ্যম থেকে গণ বাদ দিয়ে যে অর্থমাধ্যম হিসেবে পরিচালনা করে আসছিলেন তা এবার জনগণের সামনে স্পষ্ট হয়ে উঠেছে।

সাদাকে সাদা আর কালোকে কালো বলতেও পারছেন না। তোষামোদি মানসিকতা আর অর্থান্ধ হওয়ায় অর্থদাতার দোষ দুই চোখেও দেখতে পায়না। প্রকাশের শীর্ষে থাকা পত্রিকায় প্রকাশ পায়না সে বিষয়; যা নিয়ে দেশদুনিয়ায় চলছে তোলপাড়।তবু তারা মূলধারা ধরে রেখেছে।

গত ২ মার্চ জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের সামনে দেশের অব্যাহত সাংবাদিক নির্যাতন, মামলা-হামলা ও হত্যার প্রতিবাদে কলম বিরতির ডাক দিয়েছিলেন বাংলাদেশ মফস্বল সাংবাদিক ফোরাম বিএমএসএফ।সেদিন অনুমান করেছিলাম বাংলাদেশ উন্নয়নের দর্পন বা আয়নার স্বচ্ছতা কতটা হারাতে বসছে।পুঁজিবাদীদের পা চাটা গোলামীর চাকচিক্যের কাছে বস্তুনিষ্ঠ সাংবাদিকতা অসহায় হয়ে পড়েছে।দুর্নীতি আর অন্যায়ের কাছে আপোষহীন সাংবাদিকদের সংবাদপত্র এখন মুখ থুবড়ে পড়ে রয়েছে।প্রেসে এখন সাদাকালো প্রিন্টের কপিও ছাপাতে পারছেনা।পারছেনা পরিবারের খরচ জোগাতে।দরিদ্রতার দহনে জ্বলে জ্বলে শেষ তবু অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে কলম ধরতে দ্বিধা করেন না।এমনসব সাংবাদিকদের মহান রাষ্ট্রকে পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা প্রদান করতে হয়।
